from Josie Suggs Fannon - jfannon@ebicom.net
"My ancestor was GREEN DEPRIEST born 1793 and died abt 1831. He married Mary "Polly" Crosby, d/o John Taylor Crosby and Sarah Sally Jeter. Data that I have found indicates that Green is the son of William DePriest III and Esther Daves. It seems that Green moved first to GA, then on to Indiana where he married (1813) in Knox County, IN. Then he moved on to TN. While living in TN he took his annual crop of cotton via flat boat to New Orleans to sell. On the return trip home via The Natchez Trace, Green was robbed and killed by the infamous Murrell gang - around 1831. Following his death, his widow and children moved to Monroe County, MS where many, many of his descendants live today."
